SBI Pension Funds Private Limited (SBIPFPL) is India’s largest pension fund management company with Assets Under Management (AUM) of around ₹ 4.83 lakh crore with a market share of ~36% as on 30th Sep 2024.
Incorporated in December 2007, the company became one of the first Pension Fund Managers in the country. We began operations in April 2008 handling the NPS funds of the Central Government employees followed by those of State Governments, PSUs, CPSEs, private corporate, individual citizens, etc. We are the one of the two Pension Funds to manage all the schemes introduced under the NPS since inception. We also manage funds under Govt. of India's Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
The company also obtained a marketing licence (PoP Licence) in February 2019 after the same was made eligible to existing Fund Managers.
The company is sponsored by State Bank of India (80% shareholding) and SBI Mutual Fund (SBI Funds Management Limited) (20 % shareholding).
SBI Pension Funds (SBIPFPL) serves the NPS subscribers by managing the funds invested by them in NPS. As a fund manager, we regularly conduct subscriber interface sessions to apprise them of the performance, the options available to them within the various schemes and for other guidance.
What is NPS?
The National Pension System (NPS) is a voluntary, long-term retirement savings scheme designed to enable systematic savings. It is regulated by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) and aims to provide retirement income to all citizens.
Who can join NPS?
Any Indian citizen, whether resident or non-resident, between the ages of 18 and 70 years can join NPS.
Can an NRI open an NPS account?
Yes, an NRI between the age of 18 – 60 years, as on the date of submission of his/her application and complying with the extant KYC norms, can open an NPS account. An NRI can open their NPS Account with a POP Bank where he/she has his/her NRI Account (NRE/NRO).
Can someone invest in NPS if he/she has already invested in Superannuation or Provident Funds?
Yes, individuals can invest in NPS even if they have investments in other schemes.
What are the documents required for opening an NPS Account?
To open your NPS Account, a mobile-linked Aadhaar Card and DigiLocker, bank account details, and scanned copies of cancelled cheque, PAN Card and signature specimen are required. UPI or Internet Banking is required for initial contribution.
